Anti-carbon tax convoy rolls through Regina.
Hundreds of protesters from around Saskatchewan and further afield converged on Regina for an anti-carbon tax convoy and rally in the city today.
The premier then took aim at NDP Leader Ryan Meili who for weeks has pushed Moe to distance himself from the yellow vest movement, saying its worst elements promote anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim and anti-immigration bigotry. There was one counter protester, software developer Vince Good, who tried to get in with a sign that said “Yes, Tax Pollution” on one side and “I can’t breathe” on the other side.A supporter of the rally confronted him outside Queensbury before he could and accused him of trying to “jump on your own wagon for that shit.” “You’re not going to get away with trying to flash that around in here son. That’s the way it is,” the unidentified man said.
Ross said he believes in climate change and everyone doing their part — but he doesn’t believe a carbon tax is the way to do it. Blaine Millions of Estevan was among those who drove a truck in the convoy. “It was excellent,” he said of the drive, yelling to be heard over the blare of horns. “We can’t be ignored anymore. We’ve had enough,” he said. “This is our way of life, and we’re going to defend it.”
