With Ross McCrorie handed his debut in Gibraltar, Hutton reckons it isn't cut and dry that Ralston will get the nod for the opener with Germany
Alan Hutton reckons Anthony Ralston faces a battle to convince Scotland boss Steve Clarke he can be his first-choice right-back for Euro 2024.
Bellshill-born Ralston is seen as many observers' pick to start in Munich, despite playing fewer minutes than McCrorie since the turn of the year, but ex-Scotland and Rangers right-back Hutton feels it could go the way of either player - and Friday night's friendly at Hampden with Finland will determine who gets the nod at the Allianz Arena.
"I think both have attributes that fill that perfectly. They both like to defend, they like one-v-ones, they can get forward and get involved in attacks. McCrorie plays that way down at Bristol and Ralston has played at a high level.
