Another Ex-Man City Set For Arteta Reunion?
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on landing another former Manchester City star in a bid to close the gap on his Premier League rivals.The Spanish tactician was an understudy to Pep Guardiola during the latter's first years acclimatising to the English top flight at the Etihad Stadium, and during that time, Arteta became acquainted with many City superstars.
Fast-forward to when Arteta was appointed as the Gunners' manager, and the San Sebastien native went on to sign a few of the stars he worked with at the Citizens in a bid to reawaken the north Londoners.Ahead of the 2022/23 season, the 13-time English champions signed Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, and now, according to , the 42-year-old is keen on working closely with another former member of the Citizens, Leroy Sane.
The Essen native scored 39 goals and assisted 43 strikes in the 135 appearances he made for the Mancunians, and Arteta was an assistant to Guardiola for a lot of his spell at City. While he may be familiar with how Arteta works and the Premier League, however, the same report claims that Sane's preference is to stay with his current club Bayern Munich.The 28-year-old is now in the final 12 months of his contract at the Allianz Arena and is expected to sign an extension, but if negotiations over a new deal fail to materialise, then Arsenal could look to lure the Germany international to the Emirates Stadium.
