The brunt of the warm storm is expected to hit Northern and Central California late Thursday and into Friday, but Southern California will feel some effects as well.

“Friday is pretty much the main day — that’s going to be a washout,” said Mike Wofford, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard. “That could pose some issues at higher elevations where they’ve got a lot of snow and they’ve got rain falling on top of that.”It was never the right word for the West’s water woes. We are deep in water debt and a single wet winter isn’t going to make us flush again.

Temperatures across the Ventura and L.A. County coasts and valleys will mostly be in the mid-to-upper 60s, with a chance of 70 degrees in the warmest valley locations. The bulk of the storm “should start to taper off Friday night, and there may be a little bit of rain leftover early Saturday,” in and around Los Angeles, Wofford said. “Most of the weekend at this point looks dry.”‘A potentially significant and very likely warm atmospheric river event’ is set to hit California later this week, forecasters say.
