U.S. Integrity and RealResponse have launched a tipline for college athletes, coaches and athletic departments to anonymously report gambling issues, reports The Athletic.
The tipline, called the Athlete Alert Powered by RealResponse, launched Thursday, roughly a week after an investigation was started into “suspicious wagering activity” on an Alabama-LSU baseball game in whichU.S. Integrity monitors gambling data to detect abnormalities and misuse of insider information. RealResponse, on the other hand, is a secure and anonymous communication platform for sports teams and organizations.
Days after the Alabama scandal broke, athletes at Iowa and Iowa State are said to be under investigation, which is related to prohibited online betting activity as well as possible NCAA violations., the line can be used for “sharing physical threats or emotional abuse from fans related to gambling or any information related to corruption or concerns regarding insider information, match-fixing and the like.
“Nothing is more important than the health and wellbeing of the professional and student-athletes who have committed their lives to compete at the highest levels, and it is our job to help protect that paradigm,” U.S. Integrity co-founder and CEO Matthew Holt said in a statement. “The implementation of Athlete Alert Powered by RealResponse is another example of how we help our partners to stay one step ahead of any bad actors.
