The annual ‘Kits, ‘Cats and Kids Block Party featured school colors of orange, blue, white and purple to bring the Evanston Township High School and Northwestern University community together in one place for a free back to school party.
The outdoors event drew a large turnout to ETHS’s Lazier Field on Sept. 7 for a Thursday late afternoon three hour celebration at Church Street and Hartrey Avenue.People of all ages could enjoy games, arts and crafts, family-friendly activities, disc jockey music and community organization tables. Food trucks lined one side of the event but complimentary sandwich box meals and snacks were also served.
“It began as a pep rally held in downtown Evanston, always featuring both marching bands and highlighting student leaders on fall sports teams,” Perkins-LaFollette said.
