Meet the yoga pro keeping DuaLipa toned and calm on tour
recent yoga escapades on Instagram has been nothing short of impressive. The singer is currently on herworld tour, and has been working with Venezuelan yoga teacher and movement facilitator Anabella Landa, best known asInstagram content“I’ve always been addicted to movement,” Moves tells me over the phone, having recently embarked on the European leg of Dua’s tour. “It’s my main source of energy.
Now, her daily life is miles away from that tiny apartment. She’s not only traveling the world with Dua, but hosting her own yoga events this year, everywhere from Spain to Colombia and Mexico. Plus, she’s now an ambassador for supermodel-favorite activewear brand,. This wild success in a relatively short period of time hasn’t changed the fundamentals of what she does, though. When it comes to staying grounded, she relies on the same universally available tool she always has.
“The breath is everything, honestly,” she says. “It’s a practice that has such a positive impact on your life, on so many levels. You don’t realize the important role it has until you step on the mat.” Rooted in vinyasa yoga, a practice that focuses on synchronizing the breath and the physical body , Moves’s classes are all about getting to know yourself and your body, whether via poses, or the capacity of your breath.
Though Moves is understandably discreet about her work with Dua, just scroll the superstar’s Instagram posts for evidence of how her sessions with Moves are keeping her honed, toned and calm—no doubt crucial when you’re performing grueling dance routines in a different city every night. And of course, you don’t have to be a famous pop star to benefit from this sort of practice.
“Yoga is not just a physical thing at all. There is this taboo around it, that if you’re not flexible, you can’t practice it. But yoga is for everyone!” Moves says. “It’s such a personal practice but it is beneficial to everyone, and should be accessible to all. Try it—the worst thing that can happen is you don’t like the class you take… the best thing that can happen is it can change your life.”
