Farris has spent the last two years developing The Magic Nexus, a tabletop roleplaying game she describes as being in the same genre as Dungeons and Dragons. The game will come in book format — either digital or hard copy — and all that’s required to play are people, printed sheets of paper, writing instruments, dice and imagination.
Mythical creatures are among the characters that are beautifully illustrated in the 250-300 guide book for The Magic Nexus tabletop roleplaying game. - Contributed Farris has connected with artists from underrepresented communities — such as the 2SLGBTQIA+ community — to create detailed drawings. Mike Butler, an openly gay Wolfville councillor who is a well-known advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, first met Farris at a mental health summit he was emceeing a few years ago at Camp Brigadoon. She was a student attending school in Middleton.
“I’m not great at roleplaying games, but I can’t wait to try it with a few friends and just see how it plays out. I think that when you can create something that is good for all ages and abilities and communities, it’s a win-win,” he said.
