After handing Falkirk the title last week before a ball was kicked, John Rankin's side are hoping to secure their play-off spot this weekend

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin has told his side to guarantee they finish second in League One this season as he chases promotion back to the Championship.Ten-man Accies handed the title to Falkirk on Saturday as they drew 0-0 at home to Queen of the South, before the Bairns thumped Montrose 7-1 in the evening kick-off to maintain their unbeaten record this season.

“So we need to make sure we continue to be as professional as we can, and make sure we hit the play-offs with a wee bit of momentum. “That’s the environment that we’re trying to create, that every player knows they have to give their all in every training session.“We have some players that are tied up for next season already, but others need to put in the performances that merit a new deal, a place in the starting 11, or that we maintain the run that we’re on and continue to build on that.”

“Players then got confidence back, and we need to maintain that and keep pushing. For the players’ sake we had to find a different way to win games, and that then built momentum and belief again.
