ICYMI: When it rains it pours for the Guardians.
Guardians starter Logan Allen breezed through his first two innings and worked out of trouble in the third by striking out Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani back-to-back with two runners on base.
Allen lasted 4 1/3 innings allowing three earned runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Francona said LA’s lineup made the young lefty work hard. Mired in an offensive funk that saw them hit just .180 over the first six games of their current homestand, Cleveland batters collected at least one hit in each of the first seven innings Friday. But the Guardians stranded runners in scoring position in the sixth and seventh and left seven runners on base.
“You can see the difference,” Rosario said via interpreter Agustin Rivero. “There was a more confidence going on in the lineup. Obviously we didn’t get the result we wanted, but I felt like that was more like last year.”
