PHILADELPHIA — In a duel to determine which team is playing the worst in the majors right now, the Angels came out on top.On the morning that the slumping Philadelphia Phillies fired their manager, the Angels brought an eight-game losing streak to town. Hours later the Phillies were celebrating a 10-0 rout of the Angels on Friday night.They also removed Taylor Ward from the game with right hamstring tightness.

“It looks terrible,” Maddon said. “I know that. When you’re not hitting, it looks like you’re lifeless. It appears to be that way. But when you’re not hitting a lot of things look wrong. We’ll stay with the guys. We’re going to come back. It’s going to be fine. The only consolation for the Angels throughout this miserable stretch is they played well enough over the first quarter of the season to have a cushion. The Angels are still clinging to the third and final American League wild-card spot, although they certainly won’t be there for long if they don’t start playing better.
