Columbus City Schools official Angela Chapman is expected to be named the interim superintendent Friday afternoon, sources told the Dispatch.

Columbus City Schools has named Angela Chapman interim superintendent, the district announced Friday in a letter to the community.

Chapman — who was brought into the administration by Superintendent Talisa Dixon in 2019 — has been the chief transformation and leadership officer in the district. In that post, she has been overseeing many of the district's leaders, such as principals and regional area superintendents. After spending five years as a teacher, Chapman had stints as an assistant principal in Euclid City Schools in Northeast Ohio, and then as a principal back in Cleveland Heights. She then spent her longest tenure in education in Nashville, Tennessee, as a principal for eight years in Metro Nashville Public Schools.

Chapman then became an instructional superintendent at District of Columbia Public Schools where she was for over three years and then transitioned to the district's Chief of Elementary for a year. She then was brought into her current position with Columbus City Schools.
