Eskom CEO André de Ruyter has resigned from his position due to recent attacks directed at him and the board.
Eskom has been largely criticised by politicians and the public at large for power outages that have affected the country this year.Energy expert Ted Blom, and Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe have recently been vocal about Eskom’s mismanagement.it is the lack of support from President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Minister of Finance of South Africa Pravin Gordhan that led to Ruyter’s decision.
Ruyter’s three-year tenure has led to the country experiencing the highest form of load shedding, stage 7.
