Youth league convener, Nonceba Mhlaule, told City_Press they have raised concerns around proposals not being factored in and that policy conference is just a recommending body.
The ANC Youth League will still push for more young people to be included in the structures of the party as the ANC heads to its national conference in December.
The youth league had also raised the issue of retirement age, and Mhlauli said that was also not in the resolutions when there was a report back. In the video, Ngobeni can be heard asking the party’s chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, who was chairing the session that he needs to respect the delegates and not address them while seated. When you are addressing people, you should be standing up unless if you are agreeing with the view of Cosas and the ANC Youth League that those who are 60 and above are tired and they should go home.
“You cannot have a situation where it is the same Cabinet that reports to itself as an NEC, and vice-versa,” she said.“We have raised our concerns around those proposals not being factored in. Remember policy conference is a recommending body, and going to the national conference we will continue to be pushing for those,” she said.
