It will be up to the ANC's Secretary-General to determine the future of disgraced ANC MP, Bongani Bongo.disgraced ANC MP, Bongani BongoANC Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina says Bongo only informed her about his court appearance on Wednesday, but not the details.Bongo appeared in the Cape Town magistrate's court on Thursday on a corruption charge.It relates to his alleged attempts to bribe the evidence leader of Parliament's Eskom inquiry two years ago.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority's spokesman Eric Ntabazalila said Bongo had offered the lawyer"an unlawful gratification in the form of a monetary benefit, requesting him to decide on the exact amount required, to stop the enquiry from proceeding".Anti-graft watchdog Corruption Watch welcomed the arrest, saying it points to the commitment of Ramaphosa's administration to tackle graft.
"There is determination on the part of the law enforcement basically to start enforcing the law," he said.
