This was the second ward won in AbaQulusi by the party in the last three weeks.
The African National Congress retained two wards in KwaZulu-Natal by-elections held on Wednesday, confirmed the Electoral Commission of South Africa .Official results emailed to African News Agency by the IEC showed that in the Okhahlamba Municipality, the ANC’s Manqoba Herbert Hlatshwayo received 1,039 out of a total of 3010 votes, 44 of which were spoilt.
The African Transformation Movement took 1.69% of the vote with Cope dropping to 0.91% from about 8%. The AbaQulusi Municipality is currently governed under a coalition government with the DA and EFF, and led by the IFP.
