ANC in the North West says it is working towards more female representation at the highest levels.

FILE PHOTO: Supporters of the African National Congress wave party flags during their final rally ahead of election at FNB stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, May 25, 2024.says it is working towards the party’s decision of female representation at the highest levels in the provincial government. It’s been two months since the announcement of the Provincial Executive Council .

The ANC’s National Executive Committee earlier resolved that all provincial governments should have more women than men as MECs, especially in provinces where the premier is male. However, North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi appointed five male MECs and five women to his executive. This resulted in the ANC Women’s League raising the matter with the NEC, which then instructed the provincial structures to rectify the matter.“We can confirm that we need to implement that decision and we will be implementing it very soon.
