An ANC MP is appearing in the Cape Town magistrate court on a charge of corruption on Thursday.Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi says the MP handed himself over after being requested to do so.

Mulaudzi could not be drawn on the identity of the accused, nor the incident on which the arrest was based.Bongo is currently chair of parliament’s home affairs portfolio committee. He was accused of bribing the evidence leader in the parliamentary enquiry into the capture of Eskom, Denel and Transnet in October 2017.
