The African National Congress has expressed sadness at the death of veteran photographer Bongani Mnguni, who died at the age of 65 early on Sunday morning.
“This giant photographer used his camera to capture South African history when our country was in turmoil. He was part of a coterie of photographers that continued to tell the story of South African despite threats to their lives.” “He was a staff photographer at The World, a newspaper targeting the country’s black population. The paper, edited by the firebrand maverick Percy Qoboza, was an uncompromising, strong opponent of the apartheid regime and its policies, the ANC said.
