ANC loses control of Mpumalanga’s Lekwa municipality to community forum
The Lekwa Community Forum has taken both the mayorship and speaker positions while the chief whip position went to the Economic Freedom Fighters following the council’s inaugural meeting today.
The council was dissolved and the municipality put under administration in June this year following allegations of maladministration and corruption, and ANC infighting that led to paralysis.Thabethe told City Press that his priority was to ensure that areas that did not have water and electricity for the past five to ten years would get connected:
“This is not a job that needs one to wear a suit. I will wear my boots and tekkies and start working,” Thabethe said.
