The Raptors are getting the best of Scottie Barnes, with shades of Draymond Green

PHOENIX—He stands in the corner or on the wing — or anywhere in the court, really — and you can seeA defender tight to his body, maybe a second one sneaking in from a few feet away, hisAnd then Barnes goes to work: the ball zinging across the court between or above defenders, almost always finding an open teammate, and his work on that possession is done.

“I’ve always been able to move around the floor,” he said. “It’s nothing new to me … to be able to play big, play point guard. It depends on the time in the game it doesn’t really matter. I’m able to try to step into that role and play it as well as possible.” The Raptors need Barnes’s unique versatility to make the offence function at its best. They need him to move the ball and himself, to pick apart defences with passes but also pound his way to the rim when matchups dictate.
