Sometimes I wish the president would act as if he had only one term to serve South Africans. This is because I sense that he is playing a patient waiting game, convinced that all he needs is time to overcome even the most pressing issues, writes RapuleT
On Tuesday, Stats SA announced that the country was technically in a recession because the economy had contracted by 1.4% in the fourth quarter of 2019, following a contraction of 0.8% in the third quarter.Ordinarily, one case should be no cause for panic, but South Africans were left anxiously wondering who else the first detected man could have infected.
“I rate myself very well; I do. I am a hard worker, I really am a hard worker,” he said when asked about his performance over the past two years. I have built and led a number of organisations without being a dictator, working very well with people and making them feel worthwhile and worthy to work in an organisation, and respecting the capability of people – not give in to shouting and screaming at people, and so on. That is my style,” he said.

On Tuesday, Ramaphosa said: “We have chosen the balanced route and are engaging with public unions on the wage bill. Now their concerns are understandable because they do not want to be the sacrificial lamb, and they want to sit down with us so that we have thorough discussions on all these matters we want to see addressed.
