The Bank of Canada’s inflation calculator indicates that the $11,165,900 grant the board received in 2011-2012 would have been equal to $13,317,806 in 2021, yet the actual grant the board received in 2021-2022 was $11,429,056.Meanwhile, the cost of books has increased by about 40 per cent since 2011.

At an unrelated event on Jan. 12, SaltWire Network asked Premier Andrew Furey why funds for library materials haven’t increased in 10 years.
