The league recently announced a new tournament which has received mixed emotions from club bosses and coaches.
McCarthy, who didn't want to comment too much about the tournament, rather expressed his confusion regarding the timing of the competition. "To be honest, I genuinely don't have an answer, I'm not in the frame of mind to answer that question because I genuinely don't know the purpose of that tournament Or how important it is to the league and teams,” McCarthy told the media via zoom on Monday.
"So we will prepare for that, however, this competition we will see how it will pan out and which players we will lose to play in this innovative cup. So that all I can say for now."
