Amazon conquered the cloud early. Now it has to defend what it built.
Amazon.com Inc. and Microsoft Corp.
are turning up the pressure on each other as they battle to supply corporate America with remote computing power, stoking a fight that is expected to dominate the tech world over the next decade. Revenues from this business—known as cloud computing—jumped 246% in the previous decade, according to a 2020 estimate from research firm Gartner Inc.
