Bezos, who stepped down as Amazon CEO in 2021, and his Day 1 Families Fund made a $2 billion commitment in 2018 to support homeless families in America.
DOTHAN , Ala. - Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is giving Dothan $1.250 million to overcome its homelessness issues.
“We have a struggling homeless population,” said Dothan Housing Authority executive director Sam Crawford, who grinned ear-to-ear after learning of the grant.Crawford said that, while there are restrictions, the grant allows great latitude about how the housing authority can use that money.“We have a significant housing shortage and some children in our school children are homeless,” Crawford told WTVY News4 on Friday.
Crawford and others submitted a request to that fund in late summer and hoped for the best but admits he wondered if Dothan would hear back.Crawford said the money should be in the bank during the first quarter of 2025, following the completion of routine paperwork.and receive the latest local news and weather straight to your email every morning.
