Amanda Knox returns to Italy, says media painted her as a ‘femme fatale’:
Now a journalist and author, Knox, 31 wrote, “While on trial for a murder I didn’t commit, my prosecutor painted me as a sex-crazed femme fatale, and the media profited for years by sensationalizing an already sensational and utterly unjustified story. It’s on us to stop making and stop consuming such irresponsible media.”
The nonprofit Italy Innocence Project researches wrongful convictions, with an aim of preventing injustice in the future. While speaking a the event in Italy, Knox said, “I know that despite my acquittal, I remain a controversial figure for the public opinion, especially in Italy. I know that many people think I am bad, that I don’t belong here. It shows how a false narrative can be powerful and undermine justice, especially when amplified by the media,” according toKnox expressed her fears about returning to the country where she was wrongfully imprisoned and stigmatized on Instagram.
