Julian Alvarez sent another reminder of his growing importance to Manchester City to give them a Champions League win over RB Leipzig.
Julian Alvarez has had the difficult task of trying to find a place in the Manchester City team behind Erling Haaland. Now the dynamic is more of an equal one.
Alvarez's decisive contribution took his record this season to six goals and five assists from 11 appearances, at an average of a goal involvement every 70 minutes. Last term, it was Haaland setting the incredible goals-per-minute statistics. Two months into the new campaign and it's suddenly Haaland having to catch up to Alvarez rather than the other way round.
"We had the best striker in the world last season and now someone is pushing him to be even better and they will keep on pushing each other. When we do that we’re only going to get better as a whole unit and a team. It’s the best selection you can have.
