While there is no threat of significant snow in the forecast, the active weather pattern is set to continue.
Another frontal boundary will push a round of rain and wind eastward across Atlantic Canada later this weekend. It’s the first weekend of December, and the always-important weather forecast is even more crucial as people decorate, shop and make travel plans.
Our Saturday is off to a fair start thanks to high pressure off Newfoundland, but that will depart and a frontal system very similar to the one that just impacted us will cross the region. Rain will develop first in New Brunswick Saturday afternoon, spreading eastward into Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island Saturday evening into the overnight hours. Labrador can expect snow mixing with rain developing throughout Saturday and Saturday night, with rain slowly working eastward across Newfoundland on Sunday – reaching eastern regions near or after midnight Sunday.
Rainfall amounts of five to 15 mm are forecast, but there will be pockets of 15 to 30-plus mm, mainly over Nova Scotia, southern New Brunswick and southwestern Newfoundland, due to heavy downpours.Gusty southerly winds will once again accompany the system, peaking in the range of 50 to 80 km/h, but might blow stronger along exposed areas of the coast and for the Les Suetes and Wreckhouse regions.
There will be clearing from west to east behind the front in the Maritimes ahead of a high-pressure ridge, while Newfoundland and Labrador clears later Sunday and Monday.Yet another low-pressure system will advance into our region by mid-week, but the high will attempt to block it out of Newfoundland, which may stall wet weather over the Maritime provinces mid-late next week.
