Ukrainian counterintelligence investigators claim to have disrupted a Russian plot to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other top Ukraine military and political figures. Two colonels in the State Guard of Ukraine, the entity responsible for protecting high-ranking officials, were detained on suspicion of devising this assassination plan under instructions from Russia's Federal Security Service, or FSB.
Moscow did not immediately comment on the reports, which indicate that the colonels were recruited prior to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February...Ukrainian counterintelligence investigators have foiled a Russian plot to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other top military and political figures, Ukraine’s state security service said Tuesday.
"The attempt was planned under the supervision of employees of the 5th department of the FSB as a gift to Vladimir Putin for the inauguration," Ukrainian Secret Service SBU said in a post on Telegram after detaining two"traitor" colonels.
