67 community groups, charities, and local societies across the area have opened their doors
As the cost of living crisis continues and energy bills rise as the cold weather begins to bite, many people across West Northamptonshire are struggling to keep warm this winter. To help this, to provide 'Warm Spaces', where people can come together to stay warm.
The scheme has now officially been launched, with WNC saying on its website the network of 67 spaces in Daventry, Northampton, South Northamptonshire, and even nearby Wellingborough, provide "a group of non-judgemental, safe and welcoming places where people in West Northamptonshire can come together to stay warm, and perhaps enjoy a hot meal or a cup of tea and a biscuit."
The launch of the warm spaces scheme coincides with WNC's package of financial and practical support announced on Friday November 18, following the government's autumn statement. Alongside further financial support for the elderly, poorer families, and the disabled, the package also includes a new West Northamptonshire Council Online Cost of Living Support Hub and helpline 0300 126 7000.
“We understand it can be difficult to find out what support is available, so we have worked closely with partners to create a central hub of information to help with this."
