It follows 'dangerously high levels of radon' at HMP Dartmoor, prison officers say.
Moving the 175 convicts starts on Thursday, with 40 inmates being moved at a time, prison officers sayThe Prison Officers Association said the temporary closure followed "dangerously high levels of radon on the landings at Dartmoor".
A POA spokesperson said: "Staff have been informed today and will be temporarily redeployed to other prisons in the area."
