The Springboks secured a stunning World Cup triumph when they secured a thrilling victory over the All Blacks in last year’s title decider. That game saw South Africa clinch a third successive one-point win during the playoffs.
There is no doubt that the result of the final could have gone either way, with the match hinging on a number of fine margins, but ultimately the Springboks held their nerve to clinch apodcast, and openly admitted that the Springboks should be credited for their incredible resolve. “There are some moments in that game I look back on and am not fond of, or keep me up at night a bit, but it’s one of those things that hurt.”
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has repeatedly said at the start of this year that continued evolution of their game is necessary in order to remain top.
