Fortunately for coach Steve Sarkisian, he won’t have to find a replacement for Ford. The 2022 All-Big 12 first team linebacker on Saturday announced he will be back with the Longhorns for the 2023 season. “To my Longhorn family, I want you all to know that I strive every day to represent everything this school is about, both on and off the field,” Ford wrote in a message posted to his social media accounts. “And I feel that there is still a lot I have yet to accomplish as a player and a student. With that being said, I will continue to build my legacy and help this team create something special and return for my senior season.
Ford ranked outside the top 80 recruits at linebacker, outside the top 150 in the state and outside the top 1,200 in the nation when he signed with Texas out of Frisco Lone Star in 2020, per 247Sports. He’s grown into one of the program’s finest recent success stories since then, parlaying a tantalizing sophomore year into an All-American junior season.
