Alita: Battle Angel Realistic Cosplay Sees Android Ready For Battle

An impressive AlitaBattleAngel cosplay by sonia_cosplay features the android ready for battle with a recreation of the Damascus Blade.

One Alita: Battle Angel fan has taken her cosplay to the next level, depicting the titular android gearing up for battle. Released in 2019, Alita: Battle Angel follows a scrapped android, played by Rosa Salazar, who is brought back to life and refurbished by a compassionate cyber-doctor in the year 2563. The film, which is directed by Robert Rodriguez, is adapted from Yukito Kishiro's popular manga series, Gunnm, also known as Battle Angel Alita in English.

The look is further complemented by thin black paint lines under the eyes and a Damascus-bladed sword, which is very similar to the version featured in the film. Although it's now been nearly 4 years since the movie was released, passion for the franchise evidently remains alive.

Alita: Battle Angel also features one big setup for the franchise's future that isn't paid off in the first film. Nova, played by Edward Norton in a small cameo role, is essentially set up as the franchise's big bad in the first film. Norton's Nova lives in Zalem and serves as one of the city's most powerful individuals, conducting secret experiments using harvested body parts, both human and cyborg.

Although Alita: Battle Angel features a complete character arc for Salazar's character, the ending clearly establishes that her quest is far from over. When Hugo is killed during the movie's final act, Alita vows to avenge him, and the ending sees her make this clear when she points her sword up at Zalem. It's unclear if an Alita: Battle Angel sequel will move forward, but it's certainly looking more likely now than at any time in the past few years.
