Zhou’s first season in Formula 1 has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, with the Chinese driver scoring his first points in his very first race. Nevertheless, he finished thebehind his more experienced teammate Valtteri Bottas. It seems that Zhou has taken another step in the right direction in his second year in Formula 1.
Zhou and teammate Bottas delivered varied finishes in the season’s first races. In Bahrain, Bottas finished ahead of Zhou, and in Saudi Arabia, Zhou finished ahead of Bottas. InAlfa Romeo’s head of trackside engineering Xevi Pujolar explained how he sees the progress of the Chinese driver, according to“I think Zhou is raising the game. And I would say now they are both quite even,” he said.
In Melbourne, Zhou confirms this, saying, “it’s good to be feeling confident for the first race of the year which I wasn’t last year this time.”Pujolar explains that the 23-year-old has gained quite a bit of confidence.“And then working with Valtteri as well and that’s how we can [make steps] with both drivers together. And it gives himself confidence as well.”
