is having a moment. Between starring on Once on This Island the star is making his voice heard. Now, that voice has become even louder with Newell's first original song in four years.
On Wednesday , Newell released his new single "Boy, You Can Keep It," a dance-pop anthem on which the singer establishes what won't impress him in a relationship. As a thumping beat and groovy melody guides him through the song, the star lays everything out, letting his potential suitors know that money, cars or any other material goods just aren't enough to keep him interested.
The video sees Newell owning up to the song's message -- decked out in a stunning fringe dress, a faux fur and a stellar wig, the star struts his way through his apartment, into a black SUV and down a red carpet, all while showing his admirers that he doesn't want their stuff, he wants their adoration.
“Material things aren’t everything in a relationship,” Newell said in a statement released with the new track. “They aren’t how you measure love. I’m saying, ‘I don’t need everything that you think I do.' I’m looking for something you can’t monetize. I want something real.”
