La elección de Hernández no fue tan sencilla porque, entre otros, competía con el también clavadista Osmar Olvera, un doble medallista mundial que es una de las sólidas cartas mexicanas para subir al podio en la prueba de tres metros. “Todos los atletas que estaban incluidos en estas ternas son grandes atletas y todos merecían estar”, dijo Marijose Alcalá, presidenta del Comité Olímpico Mexicano.
