After coming back so quickly, it's easy to forget Alex Albon suffered respiratory failure earlier in the year, so it's hardly surprising a bit of time off is in order 😳 From Formula_Nerds F1
Williams driver Alex Albon admitted he will use the winter break to fully recover his form after the unexpected surgery he had to undergo during the Italian Grand Prix weekend, as the team aspires to more for 2023.An unexpected twist in the Circus happened during the 2022 Italian Grand Prix when Williams driver Alex Albon had to sit out from driving and instead had to undergo surgery for appendicitis immediately.
for 2023, on the other side Albon suffered a respiratory failure post-surgery and, while he already went back behind the wheel, he believes he needs more time to fully recover., Albon will use the winter break to regain his best condition: “I would say [I need the] winter to get to 100%. We didn’t have the time to train to really get back that fitness, so yes. But realistically speaking, Singapore was tough, Japan was 75%, and after Japan, I felt pretty good.
While De Vries’ performance was worthy of notice, conquering his first points by finishing P9 in his debut race, Albon still believes to have missed an opportunity: “I feel like the biggest one was being healthy for Monza, that would have been my main points opportunity. Other than that, I’m not sure. I really do feel like in the moments where we’ve had the chance to score points, we have.”
