Chief Albert Luthuli’s daughter hopes she will live to experience black people getting their land back, decades after watching her father fight for the same cause.

DURBAN - The daughter of struggle icon Chief Albert Luthuli has called for an urgent and honest debate on land ownership, warning of a crisis that could end in war.

At 86 year’s old, Albertina Luthuli is still as active and passionate about her causes as she was years ago. She’s the picture of poise as she basks in the morning sun at her home in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal. Her voice firms as she starts to reminisce about the long and hard-fought struggle over land ownership in the country.“We talked of wars over land.

“We are going to have to change attitudes. I hope that happens before I die. The very people who don’t have the land are actively being tested to the point of it spilling over.”“I have no solution myself as to how you can get them out of this cocoon and say, ‘come let’s talk’. But I think we are moving in the direction where there is so much talk around the issue of land now that more and more people should be direct.
