Toews responded by telling reporters in Toronto the federal government needs to “bear the lion’s share” of funding that will attract international capital. “We’ve come to the plate, it’s time the federal government comes to the plate. So far, they’ve talked of plans, but we really need to see action,” said Toews, referring to its Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction carbon tax on industrial emitters and investments in carbon capture utilization and storage .
In an interview with Postmedia Friday afternoon, Toews said more needs to be done to attract investment in big industrial projects. He reiterated the province’s opposition to federal environmental assessment law Bill C-69, which the UCP government has dubbed the
