“It just should not have happened,” said Rodney Maniaci, a Wasilla voter. “I always vote and this was the worst experience I’ve had as far as the chaos and lack of information, lack of parking, lack of indoor waiting .” Maniaci described his voting experience as chaotic with long lines, as people tried to squeeze in their vote during a five-hour window. The Alaska GOP said the poll hours of 3 to 8 p.m. have been the same for years. Yet, voters expressed their concern that there was limited information about the election.
“It’s an amazing thing when you wake up in the morning and you find out through Fox News that your state is having a polling,” Jeanie Williams, a Wasilla voter, said., that the poll was heavily advertised on their social media pages. “We’ve sent out emails and text messages letting people know the time of the poll and the different polling places that we’re offering,” Ann Brown, the chair of the Alaska Republican Party, said.Maniaci also remarked how he was confused with the poll hours and hopes that the Alaska GOP will investigate Tuesday’s election and find a solution to the various issues.An additional concern, voters expressed, was a lack of polling locations.
