Those hoping for a physical release of Alan Wake 2 were originally disappointed, as it transpired following the game’s PlayStation Showcase showing that the upcoming survival horror game will only be available digitally., who appear to be offering their services to potentially bring the game to disk in the future – and noted their previous record with the series.
Of course, the tweet isn’t a legally binding contract or agreement – and given Alan Wake 2 is published by Epic Games, they’ll almost certainly have to get involved from a legal standpoint too. But those interested in game preservation – or those or just want a physical copy to have on their shelf – will no doubt be pleased to have some hope to hold onto that Alan’s next adventure will get a physical release – even if it might not be right away.
– including the fact that Alan won’t be the sole protagonist of the sequel. You’ll also be playing as new character Saga Anderson, an FBI agent investigating a series of murders in Bright Falls. The game will also get free content post-launch and two paid expansions by the names of Night Springs and Lake House, although further details are of course under wraps for the time being.
Alan Wake 2 arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Epic Game Store on October 17, 2023.
