A Lawrence County father is facing aggravated child abuse charges.

A north Alabama father was reportedly arrested earlier this month on aggravated child abuse charges, six years after he allegedly fractured his young son’s skull.

A captain with the Moulton Police Department investigating the case claimed UAB Hospital, where Sanford’s son was taken following the Oct. 20, 2016 incident, did not give investigators the “findings of the victim’s diagnosis and prognosis” in the early stages of the case, according to the station. The records showed three possible diagnoses for the victim, described only as a child less than 6 years old and Sanford’s son, with child abuse as the main possibility.

Information obtained by police was sufficient to arrest Sanford on Sept. 6 on aggravated child abuse charges.
