Tau joined Al Ahly in 2022 and had a productive first season, contributing 17 goals in 42 games. However, his form dipped this season, scoring six goals but failing to provide any assists.
Initially, Al Ahly offered Tau a lucrative three-year deal that would have made him the highest-paid player in Africa. The offer included annual increases throughout the contract. But Al Ahly later backtracked on the offer and opted to sell Tau instead. This move comes amid reports that Al Ahly is looking to sign another top foreign player.
