The city implemented its first curfew on the Fourth of July amid protests in the city after the death of 25-year-old Jayland Walker who was shot and killed by eight unidentified Akron police officers. Walker, 25, a DoorDash employee, led Akron police officers on a car chase after being flagged for traffic and equipment violations. The pursuit turned into a foot chase. As he was running, Walker was fatally shot and suffered 41 gunshot entry wounds and five graze wounds, Summit County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Lisa Kohler said in a press conference Friday morning.
