All 33 kids tested negative for COVID-19 prior to boarding their Monday Air Canada flight from Tel Aviv to Toronto, the organizer said.
“What they’ve done is turn a minor inconvenience at the airport, and turn it into a huge inconvenience that swallows your whole next day,” said Charlie Moscoe, a regular business traveller, who found out he’d been selected for random testing last Thursday after arriving home from the U.S. As his deadline approached, Moscoe had little choice but take time off work and spend his Friday trying to get the testing done at LifeLabs.
After eventually figuring out the address was meant to refer to a nearby LifeLabs, he was surprised to discover that even there, staff weren’t all that clear on what to do. He said it took over an hour for three employees to figure out how to process the testing paperwork he’d been sent. In December, The Canadian Press reported the three companies were awarded testing contracts by the federal government worth nearly $631 million.
