Airdrie RCMP have arrested and charged a 16\u002Dyear\u002Dold after a break and enter led to officers being assaulted with bear spray.
On Monday around 9:43 a.m., Airdrie RCMP responded to a suspicious person complaint on Summerfield Road in Airdrie. After noticing the suspect not only had bear spray but also what was described as an “edged weapon” in his other hand, officers used a stun gun on the youth and were able to take him into custody.The teenaged suspect, a resident of Airdrie, has been charged with two counts of assault on a peace officer, one count of break and enter and theft, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, resisting arrest and use of a disguise with intent to commit an offence.
After a hearing, the youth was released on no cash bail with conditions and is set to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court sometime in March.
