Wildfire smoke prompted warnings about poor air quality for many regions across the country, stretching from northern Alberta to the Atlantic.
As many as 16,000 people fled their homes because of the fire, with about 200 structures, including 151 homes, damaged or destroyed.Meanwhile, much-needed rain over the weekend has helped control ais now the largest in the province's history, covering more than 24,000 hectares as of Sunday night.
Special air quality statements are in effect for the surrounding areas due to the Barrington Lake fire.Along with multiple statements advising residents about poor air quality due to forest fires, Environment Canada has issued smog warnings in parts of Quebec, including the"High concentrations of fine particulate matter from forest fires in Quebec will result in poor air quality in many areas today," the warnings say.
