The Global South, in particular, made significant strides in asserting its voice in the AI sovereignty debate. Countries like South Africa, India and Brazil led initiatives to develop home-grown AI solutions that address local challenges and reflect local values. This shift challenged the dominance of Western tech giants and sparked important conversations about diversity and inclusion in AI development.
2. AI literacy: There will be a growing emphasis on AI education and literacy programmes to empower citizens to understand, question and engage with AI systems critically. 5. AI auditing: Independent AI auditing mechanisms will gain traction, providing third-party verification of AI systems' compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
